29 Dec 1831 Captain William Whiteway, of the brig Commerce, and a companion drowned when sailing to
Port de Grave, Newfoundland from Brigus, Newfoundland in a small boat.
We have not established whether if it is this William Whiteway who would have been 33 or
his father William who would have been about 60 who drowned.
